Are You Looking For A Standout Job?

by Ben Yoskovitz

Standout Jobs has some interesting jobs listed - each one with a fun, interesting video for your viewing pleasure. Video is just a tool, but a powerful one at showing you a company’s culture, vision and what they’re really looking for in new hires.

I’ve added some of the latest job openings to the Instigator Blog sidebar on the right.

Project Manager Plank Multimedia is a great web design shop in Montreal. I’ve known them for years. I consider the team and their work top-notch. They’re looking for a project manager, which should be a very cool job. You might even get a chance to work with Michael Moore.

Ruby Rock Star TSOT is a Toronto-based company that runs three social networks: fraternity live, sorority live and faculty live. TSOT is hiring a Ruby Rockstar, and what you’ll see immediately from their video is that they care and believe strongly in Ruby on Rails.

Bookkeepers and Virtual Assistants EmptyTray is looking for bookkeepers and virtual assistants. Although based in Toronto, EmptyTray will bring people on from all over. They help small business owners run their businesses more efficiently.

Senior .NET Architects Band of Coders is a group of programmers in Guelph and Toronto looking to hire Senior .NET Architects. Band of Coders works with people across North and South America. You can see their personality coming through very strongly from their website (which is rare for corporate sites.)

Many of our current job postings are for companies based in Toronto and Montreal. And there will be plenty more from those cities in the near future, including job openings at some of the hottest startups. But stay tuned as we broaden our horizons into other cities as well. Standout Jobs isn’t focused exclusively on the Canadian market…far from it.

Standout Jobs is Hiring a Ruby Guru

by Ben Yoskovitz

My new startup, Standout Jobs is starting to build out its core team. One of the first people we’re looking for is a Ruby Guru.

You can get more information about the specific job from our Ruby Guru job posting.

At the same time, check out the video that Fred Ngo and I did for the job opening. We provide some additional insight into Standout Jobs, what we’re working on, and why this would be a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial-minded, Ruby developer.

Time To Change The Face Of Recruiting - Standout Jobs

by Ben Yoskovitz

The online job market is broken and too many people don’t spend enough time hiring the right people.

So what are we going to do about it?

Standout Jobs logo

I’ve made some allusions here recently about starting a new business, and I’ve spoken to a few people directly. Today I’m announcing the start of Standout Jobs, a company I’ve founded with Fred Ngo and Austin Hill.

We won’t be giving out a lot of details in the near future, but check out the landing page and sign up to receive news.

On a personal note, I’m thrilled to be working with these guys on this very cool project. I’ve already learned an absolute ton, been inspired more than I have in years, and met some amazing people. We’re building a great team, pushing a great idea, and you can be sure that we’ll knock some heads and raise some eyebrows along the way. Maybe we’ll get a few gasps and cheers too…

Standout Jobs is about helping employers find the best candidates faster. It’s about opening up lines of communication and taking the boring, unending processes out of hiring. We want to change the way you recruit, because the way you hire people right now doesn’t work.
