Hey, thanks for the shout-out in the post; that was cool of you.

I have to agree, too. I spend a lot of time viewing all sorts of sites on the net, and it's incredible how many of them either have no copy, sparse copy, or just plain poor copy.

The extra frustration is that you can tell these people quite simply, "Look. Better words means better profits for you."

And they don't get it. They can't see it. They look at their copy, shrug, and say, "Well, we're doing okay."

Personally, okay isn't enough for me. I want better, more. Otherwise, what's the point of being in business?

I used to have a problem using “we”. I actually never even read anything about it until now but I just didnt like the way it sounded. So now before I write anything, I will reread it a few times to ensure that what I wrote actually sounds like I want it to.

Thank you for the honest feedback on this. It still makes me feel icky. I feel overpowered by the copy in a way that doesn't increase my sense of trust with these guys – but I also understand your points too.

Heya Ben. In the context of an About Us page, for instance, the 'We' nature of the first quote would be fine. I also think it's fine to say: "we are passionate about exceptional website design and application development." I like the brevity and balance here: "We research it and practice it. We live and breathe it." And for all that the prospect of them running with your project made you feel icky, many clients WANT someone who'll take the entire job off their hands and use a bit of initiative. That's how I read the following: "Let us run with your project and see just how great web development is done these days."

Granted none of it is the BEST writing I've seen, but it certainly ain't the worst. And there's some good stuff in the middle, if you ask me.
