Blogging gives you the opportunity to reach millions. The potential audience is huge.

But the real value in blogging comes one relationship at a time.

Thanks Paul. It took me awhile to find them, but I realized I hadn’t done much with photos in awhile.

And I’m experimenting with short, hopefully poignant posts. They don’t seem to generate the comments I’d like – but many people don’t want to write, “Totally agree! You’re a genius!” *grin*

Tomorrow I’m posting on HOW TO blog one relationship at a time – so hopefully that gives people the info they want!

    Ben, I totally agree! You’re a genius!

Really, I like the concept of short, effective visual posts, especially when you follow it with a supporting “how-to”. You may be on to a great method here. :)

    Genius? Aw, shucks. Thanks Becky…

I really like the format – I’d hoped that a short post like this would encourage more commenting, and possibly more blog posts written by others to expand on the idea.

Short posts = big ideas (hopefully) and I wanted to keep playing with images as well.

Well, don’t know you well enough (yet) to give gou genius status :) but I keep returning to see what you have to say.

Fairly new to blogging, and I can see how it would be easy to run (translate that to link, comment or visit) in all directions. But, just like in the real world, I agree it’s better to build a network one relationship at a time.

I was excited last week to “run in to” a couple of my new electronic buddies on another popular Blog. It was fun being recognized and called a “Virtual Buddy”. That wouldn’t have happened if I was out there running far and wide in the blogosphere.

Francie – it’s amazing how quickly you’ll get “recognized” out here…it’s a lot of fun.

Thanks Jamsi. You’re right. A picture does tell a thousand words, and I’m going to make sure I incorporate more pictures into the blog in the future. And experiment with the short posting style – it’s not much faster to write – finding the picture, refining the message – but it’s fun.

I could not agree with you more. Every blogger who had made it big time had taken it one at a time. It makes me sad how many people actually would be successful if they weren't so self centered.

As you begin to attract visitors, your relationships with your readers will determine your blog's future success. If these relationships are positive, the news of your blog will spread through the most powerful means available – “word of mouth” advertising. Having a friend tell you, “Hey, this blog is great… I read it every day, and you should go check it out too” is far more effective than any banner, PPC ad, or inbound link.
