David - nice job. #1 in my list above (in the post, not the comment) is a tough one for a lot of people but I think it's a great step to take. Do that a few times and your confidence will go up and you'll start to really extend your network.

I like #1! I actually did that, several years ago - just on a whim, I called Evan Williams, the co-creater of Blogger, to tell him how awesome Blogger was; he was very polite and we chatted for a few minutes about Blogger, some of the "office politics" going on at Pyra, and how he was dealing with new-found fame (on a smaller scale than now, of course - this was before Blogger and blogging exploded).

Ron - Blogging is the single best way of generating buzz. I actually thought of writing a post:

Top 10 Ways of Generating Buzz

The list would have looked like this:

1. Blog
2. Blog
3. Blog
4. Blog
5. Blog
6. Blog
7. Blog
8. Blog
9. Blog
10. Do Everything Else

But I thought it might be a bit TOO silly. *chuckle* Although it's 100% the truth.

Nice job, Ben.

Some of these things never pay off, and some won't pay off right away. I am glad some had a quick return for you and I am sure they will result in some pleasant surprises in the future.

Keep up the great blogging. Blogs remain one of my favorite as well.

I second Becky's thanks. I'm also looking at taking the challenge myself. Though I'm quite busy right now serving my clients and it's just a little bit more than I can bite off. Soon, though.
