Next Montreal Tech Entrepreneur Breakfast on September 12th

by Ben Yoskovitz

The next Montreal Tech Entrepreneur Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th.

Normally it would be on Tuesday (September 11th) but I couldn’t make it on that day, so I decided to push it one day forward.

If you’d like to sign-up (to let others know you’re coming) visit the event listing. You don’t have to register or RSVP (just show up!) but it’s cool to see who is coming.

As always, everyone is invited.

If you’re an entrepreneur, technologist, interested in startups and entrepreneurship, a VC, angel investor, etc. please come out and get involved in the Montreal tech entrepreneur community.

Great Leaders Admit When They Don’t Know

by Ben Yoskovitz

“I don’t know.”

3 simple words. They’re not always easy to say. No one likes to admit they don’t have an answer.

Some people won’t say “I don’t know.” They’d rather stumble their way through a bogus answer, pull something out of thin air (or elsewhere!) or outright lie. For some, avoiding “I don’t know” is an art. Think: politicians. Masters at filling the air with sound and carbon dioxide but not much else.

“I don’t know…”

Alone, the phrase isn’t all that important. What matters is what you say right after.

Guest Writing at Pronet Advertising

by Ben Yoskovitz

I’ve read a lot about the value and benefits of guest writing on other blogs. But until recently I hadn’t given it a try.

That’s now changed. I’m a bit late with this announcement, but please point your browsers to my guest post on Pronet Advertising titled: Social Media Success Beyond Digg.

Originally, I had written the post to publish here. But of late I’ve been veering all over the place with subject matter from entrepreneur and startup content, to productivity stuff and blog-related posts. Good or bad, it’s the nature of the beast. But the post at Pronet was perfect for that audience, so it was time to make the leap and write elsewhere.

I hope the trend will continue. That’s assuming the folks at Pronet and Muhammad Saleem will have me. And don’t be surprised if my name shows up on a few other blogs in the near future as well…

Raising the Bar on Blog Contests

by Ben Yoskovitz

Running a contest on your blog is a great way of generating buzz. Done correctly it will generate links, word-of-mouth and lots of goodwill. But lots and lots of people are doing them. So part of running a successful blog contest means raising the bar on the prizes you offer.

David Airey has taking blog contests to a new level. For his blog’s 1-year anniversary he’s announced over $4,000 in prizes collected from a host of sources, including myself.
